How to Associate Tokens on Hedera Hashgraph

Step 1: Use a wallet capable of token association. I recommend Xact Wallet app, myhbarwallet.com or HEX. You can also use Hedera Wallet chrome extension by Dode Cain available here.

Step 2: In myhbarwallet Go to “Tools” on the left hand side and click Associate to add a token.

Step 3: Enter Token ID ex. 0.0.211893 (BASIL by GoMint) and click “associate token”

Step 4: The token should now show under tokens but have a zero balance. This may require a refresh and take a few minutes. Please note this is glitchy in some wallets and sometimes tokens do not show up. As long as you can see the transaction on Kabuto Explorer you are fine. Token association is a Hedera feature used to prevent unsolicited air drops. HTS is still relatively new and many wallets do not support the functionality yet.

Step 5: Have the source of the token transfer the token to your account/wallet address.

Step 6: Check Wallet and it will show under tokens, your token balance along with the token ID of the token as seen in the picture above.

Note: Token will eventually show transaction details on Kabuto as well as list your account as a token holder when you click the token ID.
